Memorial Day in the USA and Beverley in the UK

Is it good or bad that Canada and the USA celebrate our veterans on different days? Why make remembering our veterans a once a year thing? I like to wear red every Friday to remind myself to think about the freedom I have because of many people who sacrificed their lives for the greater good.
